Just a quick update

Obviously, the blog for this knit-a-long has been long forgotten. I'm sorry.

But we are alive and well on Ravelry http://www.ravelry.com/groups/for-me
I invited you to join us there if you are already in and your more then welcome to join when the site is out of beta and open to all as well.

It's been fun and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

How is it going?

So, how is the project going for all of you who have not been able to join us on Ravelry yet?

The group is booming as we have 24 members (including all who were already members) and are learning new things with our lace and about ourselves.

We have had different tips and tricks to be thrown our way and I am enjoying seeing all the pictures that are being put up.

We may not be the most active group but we are a strong one.

I look forward to hearing from everyone here as well.

I decided to change my project because I wasn't able to get gauge with the yarn I chose and I was wanting to work more with the yarn than the project. This time I'm doing lace crochet as I have done (and am doing again) Convertible from our first month. You can see pictures of my progress on my main blog in a post that I put up tonight.

Up and Running

We now have a group up on Ravelry. I hope that all of you there already will join us and I'm looking forward to all of you who will be receiving your invitations and joining the group there ASAP.

Our November through January 31st project is lace and I'm planning on doing the Branching Out scarf from Knitty (are you sensing a pattern here) from yarn I bought at SAFF from Knitting Notions!

Hi all, just a quick note. As most of you know from the email I sent, I want to set up this KAL on Ravelry as I believe I will better manage it there.

We have the three interested and I will be setting it up within the next 48 hours.

Been Awhile

I realized that I haven't posted in quite awhile. So here is my very slow progress on my Plain Vanilla Sweater. I knew this one would take lots more time than the Clapotis. I'm toying with the idea of changing the top, but I've got plenty of time to decide.

I'm using Knit Picks Crayon. It's nice to work with and really has a nice feel knit up. I am knitting in the round--I just couldn't face all that plain knitting TWICE!





I mentioned the Clapotis--I finished it in June and wore it to our reunion. I let it rest for a few weeks and then decided to frog it. I really do like the yarn and am planning to do some swatching to find what might be a better pattern for it. So it is now residing in my stash in a big, giant ball of blue and green lushness!

Almost Finished!

I have completed the fronts and back of the sweater. Love that it was done in one piece with divisions at the armholes. The less seaming, the better, as far as I'm concerned. I also have one sleeve finished and have just begun the second. I took apart a sweater I had started which I didn't like so I think I'm going to be short on the yarn. I considered shortening the sleeves but I like the look of the full length in this pattern. I'm not too concerned of the dye lot because the yarn has a bit of a pattern to it. I think I may still reach my goal of being totally finished by next Wednesday. We'll see!

Update

I have no pictures to show you. In fact, I have no progress to show you as I can't seem to get into this top. Each of the yarns in my stash (acrylics) don't seem right for my top and I keep frogging. Alas, I have to get motivated to either continue with a yarn that I have or to find a new pattern.

It's been a bit quiet around here

I haven't had a chance to photograph it or blog about it, but on our start date I did begin a test/gauge swatch for the Stacy sweater from Big Girl Knits (it is the sweater on the cover of the book). First I knit a test of the honeycomb pattern and then the ribbing. Amazingly, I got gauge with the first set of needles I tried for both parts of the pattern. Yes!
I plan to cast on just as soon as I finish up some birthday socks for my dad.
What is everyone else planning to work on?

Trivia Question Number 2

Many people know that there is knitting and there is crocheting. Just as many people don't know the differences between the two. What is the difference between knitting and crocheting?

Surfer Cardigan

I am working on a cardigan pattern from Sirdar which can be viewed here:

I purchased the yarn and pattern from my favorite LYS http://abcsofcreativepursuits.com/
I am using Surfer yarn in color 771 Shell. I'm not super comfortable with the flatness of the yarn but I'm going to give it my best.
I also started on straight needles because I was anxious to get going but 198 stitches shoved together does not make it very easy to watch the pattern develop. So three shops later, I was able to find some circulars that will work out better.
My personal goal is to finish this pattern in 3 weeks. Classes begin soon and I want one last hoorah!
Can't wait to see what everyone else will be working on.

Good Morning

Good morning and welcome to Cast-on day for our second project. I am going to be doing Isabella
again from Knitty. I hate to wear long sleeves, even during winter because I'm so hot natured and live in SC so this is perfect for me. I'm still hemming and hawing of which stash yarn I'm going to be using to make it.

Thanks once again for joining me in knitting something for ourselves. This time we will also be having a Contest in which the winner(s) will be receiving handmade stitch markers and point protectors. Each Sunday starting this Sunday 8/5/2007 and going until 10/21/2007 I will post a trivia question to answer. The person or persons with the most correct answers after 10/21/2007 will be announced on 10/31 (delay of a week due to the fact that the weekend of 10/28 I will be attending SAFF) and the prizes sent out.

Looking forward to see what projects are lined up for all of you.

Hello again to all. I am now putting the finishing touches on my shawl but due to unforeseen technical difficulties will not be able to share pictures with you until probably Sunday.

Next project

I would spend more time announcing this, but right now I have a lot of family here for a difficult situation. I will elaborate on details more next week.

Our next project will be a top (sweater, etc) to be started on August 1.

Also, with the next project there will be a contest.

We are still accepting members if you all know anyone who would like to join us.
